Snapper, Kings, Grouper
Inshore and offshore, the fishing has been exceptional. Most summers see the bait move way offshore and the fish go with the schools. This year redfish, snook and trout are abundant on the flats. Offshore fishing this time of year meant long rides into deep water. This year snapper fishing has been doing good at all depths and the grouper are in 50 feet of water on out.
Clearwater Bay has been active. Diners at Backwaters on Sand Key have watched as fishermen wade the shoreline catching redfish, trout, snook and bonnethead sharks. The leopard rays have been jumping all over the Bay and the manatee and dolphin swim playfully back and forth through the grass beds.
Get out and try your luck. If you want to go with a professional, call one of the charter captains in Maggie Mae’s Yellow Pages. We recommend them and see each of them on the water frequently.
